What causes age spots?

facebook-rectangle_TEXT

It’s one thing to get older, but it’s another to actually show that you’re getting older. Age spots are a telltale sign that you are in fact, aging. They are flat, brown, gray or black spots on the skin and usually occur on areas that have been exposed to the sun. Age spots are also called liver spots, senile lentigines, solar lentigines or sun spots. Age spots are more common in people with certain risk factors, including being older than 40 years old, having fair skin and having a history of frequent sun exposure.

What causes age spots?AgeSpots-blogpost_1

Age spots are caused by an excess production of melanin, which may be caused by skin aging, sun exposure or other forms of ultraviolet light exposure, such as tanning beds.

I have age spots, now what?

One of the more popular ways to get rid of age spots is through laser, which destroys the cells that produce melanin. Healthier, firmer and brighter-looking skin can be achieved quite easily using a combination of advanced technologies:

  1. Laser fractional technology: laser produces a micro epidermal peel, which removes the problematic areas on the top layer of the epidermis, revealing fresher-looking skin that has an overall renewed radiance.

  2. Microdermabrasion: the outer layers of the skin are sanded off, so new skin can grow in its place. Age spots can be lightened and redness is reduced.

  3. Chemical peel: a light layer of an acidic treatment is applied to the face to remove the surface layer of skin

Using Laser to Stop the Aging Process: Skin Tightening

Laser is a great tool to stop the aging process. Using a combination of infrared (IR) and radio frequency (RF) technology, the medical skin care therapists at Canada MedLaser can tighten, firm and even melt fat away anywhere on the body. A typical problem area is the face, which can be tightened painlessly and with no downtime.

What is so great about Canada MedLaser’s skin tightening procedure? It gets you the results similar to that of a facelift without going under the knife. The dual laser technology smooths wrinkles and tightens loose skin, stimulating new collagen growth deep beneath skin’s surface.

In addition, at Canada MedLaser, each of our patients are handed a copy of pre and post care treatment instructions to follow in order to ensure their safety and maximum benefit of the treatment.

Anti-aging treatments: fractional technology

rectangle_with_text (4) (1)

Fractional laser treatment is a non-invasive treatment that uses a device to deliver a laser beam divided into thousands of microscopic treatment zones that target a fraction of the skin at a time. Over the past few years, fractional technology has become very advanced and given dermatologists and skin care professionals a better tool to treat sun-damaged and aging skin. While ablative laser treatments work mainly on the epidermis (surface skin cells) and non-ablative treatments work solely on dermal collagen (mid-layer of skin), only fractional laser treatment works on both layers of the skin.

Combined with Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and Infrared (IR), laser fractional technology can be used to treat unsightly issues, such as age spots, sunspots, fine lines, medium wrinkles, large pores, elastosis, dull skin and rhytids, among others.

Benefits:

  • virtually no downtime
  • prevents damage to the top layer of skin
  • only need a few sessions
  • maximum results
  • effects last for years

How to Achieve Amazing Results Without Going Under the Knife

facebook-AD-FINAL edit

Aging is something that women have been trying to avoid forever. Over time, skin gets degraded of its elasticity and collagen, which is supposed to provide structural support. And with so many different treatment options available, it can become quite overwhelming, but we’re here to help. Canada MedLaser is proud to be the only clinic in North America to combine three amazing treatments in one. Using infrared, radio frequency and IPL, you will see effective, quick and safe results in just a few treatments. This popular face lifting treatment is revolutionary in fighting the inevitable signs of aging, including sagging, drooping skin.

Benefits:

  • even out skin tone

  • minimize pore

  • tighten and tone skin

  • encourage collagen reorganization, allowing for visibly firmer skin

  • melt the fat by penetrating to the subcutaneous tissue below the dermis

  • lift sagging brow lines

  • reduce the appearance of fine lines

What exactly is a Laser Face Lifting Treatment?

Using three different technologies, this very unique treatment is only offered at Canada MedLaser.

  1. IR, or infrared technology, is minimally invasive and requires no downtime. Using an infrared light source (a laser), skin is tightened by heating the collagen under the skin’s surface, causing the skin to contract (tighten). Results are immediate and noticeable right after the treatment is completed.
  2. RF, or radio frequency, is a great option for those looking to combat early signs of aging, and get rid of loose or sagging skin. RF energy is able to penetrate deep into the skin and affect the deeper dermis and subcutaneous layers, causing tightening and improvements to the underlying tissue structure. Skin is heated and fat is instantly melted away.

  3. IPL, or intense pulsed light, is a great option for skin resurfacing.Using heat, the light is attracted to the melanin in the dermis, at the same time, damaged skin cells and fibers can be removed, and new, healthy collagen fibers be stimulated. The new collagen, which results in the tightened skin, can last years, making results long-lasting and cost-effective.
